The PLASE Transnational Workshops bring together educators from the partner countries to collaborate, exchange experiences, and strengthen their teaching practices through Place-Based Education (PBE).
Each workshop combines reflection, dialogue, and hands-on learning, encouraging participants to connect educational approaches with local contexts. Visits to community organizations and institutions provide real-life examples that inspire the development of practical PBE cases.
Through these international meetings, educators share ideas, compare methodologies, and co-create innovative learning designs that link education with local identity, sustainability, and community engagement.

EXPLORING PERSPECTIVES TO PLACE-BASED LEARNING
The workshop “Exploring Perspectives to Place-Based Learning” engaged PLASE partners in an interactive exploration of the principles and competences behind place-based education. Guided by JAMK, participants took part in creative activities such as keyword association and collective brainstorming, which sparked dialogue and helped uncover different perspectives on how learning can be rooted in local environments. POWER OF PLACE
The workshop “Power of Place”, held in Rørvik, Norway and facilitated by Pernille Bech, brought together PLASE partners to explore how places can drive meaningful change through a regenerative approach. It encouraged participants to move beyond problem-solving and instead focus on potential, relationships, and local engagement, highlighting how transformation begins when people reconnect with the places they inhabit. HOW TO USE PLACES WHEN TEACHING LITERATURE
The workshop “How to Use Places When Teaching Literature”, held in Nykøbing Falster, Denmark and led by Lasse Isholm, explored how the concept of place can be used as a powerful tool in teaching literature. The session focused on connecting literary analysis with lived experience, showing how places in texts are not just settings, but carriers of meaning, memory, and identity.
