JAMK University of Applied Sciences, based in Central Finland, is a key partner in the PLASE project. With around 8,500 students and 900 staff members, JAMK is a highly international higher education institution recognized for its excellence in education, research, and regional development. The university operates across eight fields of study and has defined six strategic focus areas: bioeconomy, multidisciplinary rehabilitation, applied cybersecurity, automation and robotics, tourism, and innovative learning.

JAMK is especially known for its strong quality assurance practices and received the EU’s 2013 Erasmus Award for Excellence, placing first among over 4,000 European higher education institutions. Its research and development (RDI) work is centered on applied research, development of practical applications and innovations, and basic research conducted by academic staff. In 2021, RDI activities attracted more than €8.8 million in funding, primarily from EU programmes.

The School of Professional Teacher Education at JAMK, established in 1962, brings particular value to the PLASE project. It offers pedagogical qualifications for vocational and higher education teachers, with programmes delivered in both Finnish and English. The school is a pioneer in flexible, work-life-oriented education models and is active in numerous national and international networks promoting inclusive and innovative learning.

JAMK contributes to PLASE with extensive expertise in teacher education, competence-based learning, and applied research in vocational pedagogy, drawing on more than two decades of experience managing and implementing EU-funded projects across a broad range of sectors.
