Liceo Carlo Lorenzini, located in the historic center of Pescia (Tuscany), between Florence and Pisa, provides upper secondary education to approximately 900 students aged 13 to 19. Named after the renowned writer Carlo Lorenzini—better known as Collodi, the author of Pinocchio the school offers four distinct academic pathways: Classical Studies (with a focus on Latin and Ancient Greek), Scientific Studies (emphasizing Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry), Linguistic Studies (with four languages: English, French, German, and Spanish), and Human Sciences (covering Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology, and Pedagogy). The school has a longstanding tradition of pedagogical innovation and European collaboration, having participated in numerous Comenius and Erasmus+ projects, as well as language exchanges with institutions in Scotland, Germany, France, the Netherlands, and Spain. Students regularly obtain international certifications (PET, FCE, CAE, CPE, DELF, DELE), and take part in internships both in Italy and abroad.

Liceo Lorenzini continuously seeks to enhance its educational offer through interdisciplinary projects aligned with Erasmus+ priorities, particularly in developing transversal and lifelong learning competencies. Noteworthy initiatives include the use of the Oerberg method for Latin instruction, flipped classroom strategies, and a phenomenological-inductive approach in STEM subjects—applied through the regional programme Laboratori del Sapere Scientifico, which integrates laboratory-based, experiential learning.

The school has also promoted inclusive education, notably through the “V.O.C.I. from Pistoia” network, and effectively ensured continuity in teaching during the COVID-19 pandemic by implementing digital platforms such as Google Classroom.
