VUC Storstrøm, an adult education centre based in Denmark, is the coordinator of the PLASE project. The centre serves a rural region with around 100 employees—80 of whom are teachers—and approximately 3,000 full-time and part-time students across six towns. It offers a wide range of programs, including general adult education, higher preparatory examinations, basic skills courses, special programs for learners with additional needs, and customised training for companies. All courses include mandatory examinations that provide formal qualifications.

The institution is particularly experienced in working with adult “second chance” learners and early school leavers, supporting their return to education and entry into new career paths. Its six departments function as blended learning centres, fully digital and interconnected through videoconferencing and collaborative tools—ensuring equal access to quality education regardless of geographical barriers.

VUC Storstrøm also manages the Nordic Centre for Digital Adult Learning, which focuses on the use of digital tools in adult education through courses, workshops, company visits, and expert talks. The organisation has a long track record of national and international collaboration and is actively involved in Erasmus+ and European Social Fund projects, supported by a dedicated development department staffed with experienced project managers, pedagogical advisors, and IT-didactics specialists.

Strongly aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—particularly Goals 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), 4 (Quality Education), 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and 13 (Climate Action)—VUC Storstrøm is also a member of the UNESCO Associated Schools Network. The PLASE project plays an important role in its broader strategy to innovate pedagogical methods and promote sustainability in education.
